Her name has become so common that it has lost all its flavour and sweetness? Modernists are so accustomed to speak and write of “Mary” without mentioning any of her titles that she has been reduced to a banality by men who owe her supernatural life, Redemption, the possibility of going to Heaven and eternal happiness…

But this Woman whose Name is so sweet and so strong that it makes Satan tremble, this Woman before whom the angels kneel in loving contemplation and reverence, this Woman is the one who begged God to preserve her identity by binding her closely to humility on earth.

But this Name of Mary is exalted in Heaven! It is exalted! It is her title to glory! Its meaning reaches its full significance! Mary means Queen, Princess, Sea, Ocean, and all that is most noble on earth is mere dust before such splendour!

So how can we slaves and miserable sinners dare to say to our Queen, simply, “Mary”! In the old days, wasn’t it slaves and servants who were called by their first name? And if the Most Holy and Glorious Virgin Mary calls herself the Handmaid of the Lord, that doesn’t give us the right to call her as a mere slave, without blessing her from generation to generation! Finally, do children call their mother by her first name? No !

So for us, her knights, her property and her possessions, let’s make sure we always pronounce and have people pronounce the name of our Queen with love and respect, always proclaiming one or other of her titles, which makes the hells tremble and repels temptations far away! Let us spread the good odour of her Holy Name: Our Lady, Most Holy Virgin Mary, the Virgin Mary, the Immaculata… may Thy kingdom come at last!
