“When I will be lifted from the ground, I will draw everything to me”.
The first to be attracted, absorbed, delivered, crucified with Him is She, who is standing at his feet, the Immaculata: stabat Mater. She cannot sit down because she is attracted towards Her divine Son as the magnet attracts the precious metal, the true metal. She cannot rest because She is constantly absorbed, She remains in this divine Magnet. She has made her home in the fiery Furnace of Charity which is the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Even more, Her Immaculate Heart became at that moment magnet itself: “It is the magnet by which I draw all souls to me” said Jesus to Sister Lucy of Fatima.
What about us then? If their hearts are such powerful magnets that they can hold us upright in Faith, resist the despair of this world, and flood us with the fiery treasures of their Charity, why do we bear so little fruit?
What the magnet cannot attract to unite with it are materials other than itself: plastic, false alloys, counterfeit metals, OCD! So the magnet has to find another magnet to unite with it; the Immaculata, this Heart of Gold, has to find other hearts of gold to unite them powerfully with the magnet that is the Sacred Heart.
But what about us? Since we bear so little fruit, have we become fake hearts? Plastic hearts covered in rhinestones, plastic sequins or glass? Deliver us, O Immaculate Heart of Mary, from our fake hearts!
Deliver us from our superficiality in times of trial. This superficiality that makes us lose the fruits of the CROSS through thoughtless complaining; this superficiality that prevents us from seeing that the attraction provoked by your all-loving Heart brings about salvific and purifying suffering on earth; this superficiality, finally, that makes us sit down in self-fulfilment and satisfaction when we do a small good deed, drawing us away from the magnetic pole that is the golden Heart of the Immaculata.
Sweet Heart of Mary be my salvation!
Happy feast day to all!
