Novena to the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary
Prayer for each day of novena:
Prayer of St. Maximilian to the Immaculata
Allow me to praise you, O, Most Holy Virgin.
Allow me to praise you at my own expense.
Allow me to live, work, suffer, expire and die for you and only for you.
Allow me to bring the whole world to you.
Allow me to contribute even more greatly to the greatest exaltation of you.
Allow me to bring you such glory as has never been brought to you.
Allow others to outdistance me in fervency of your exaltation, and me them,
so that your glory will grow, in noble competition, deeper and deeper, faster
and faster, more powerfully, as He wishes, He, Who so inexpressibly exalted
you above all beings.
In only you, incomparably, God became more glorified than in all His saints.
For you, God created the world. For you also, God has called me into existence. Whence is this happiness for me?
O, allow me to praise you, O, Most Holy Virgin.
The first day — November 29th
Contemplation: Our Mother Mary is full of grace, which
means that in every moment of her existence God’s
grace permeates her superabundantly. Well, also in
her conception she is full of grace and no wave of original sin ever reached her most holy soul. And while all
Adam’s children woefully shout “I was brought forth
in iniquity (…)”, Mary shines unblemished from the
first moment of her coming to existence and triumphs
among the thorns as a lily — Immaculata.
O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The second day — October 30th
Contemplation: Full of grace — because thanks to the
only privilege in the history of creation which she was honored with — out of consideration for the predicted merits of the agony and death of His Son Jesus Christ — already from the moment of her conception she was free from the sad legacy which all men inherited from their parents.
O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The third day — December 1st
Contemplation: Full of grace — because it was right that Jesus, who could choose a mother for Himself, chose the being that was worthy of His divine descent and holiness. If even for a moment Mary had been deprived of God’s grace, which means that she would have been Satan’s prey for that moment — she would not have been worthy of the honorable role of the God-Human’s Mother, because even an offensive moment in Satan’s slavery would be an affront to the Son. O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The fourth day — December 2nd
Contemplation: Full of grace — because it was appropriate that the first-born Son of the Heavenly Father, whose holiness is preached by the Seraphim’s choirs, had an earthly mother who always shone with the light of holiness. O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The fifth day— December 3rd
Contemplation: Full of grace — as befits that the Saviour showed the perfection in His triumph over sin through saving at least one soul free from both original and actual sin; and this chosen soul was His Mother, who, after all, was to be the Co-redemptrix of all humankind. O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The sixth day — December 4th
Contemplation: Full of grace — because she is the first born daughter of the Eternal Father, chosen by Him to be the Mother of His Son and surrounded by special considerations. O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The seventh day — December 5th
Contemplation: Full of grace — because Jesus, both her and God’s Son, loves her as His Mother and wants her
to be worshipped and loved by all. O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The eighth day — December 6th
Contemplation: Full of grace — because in a special way she became a temple of the Holy Spirit and His betrothed, whom He filled with such unique graces more than all other creatures and which he adorned with privileges like beautiful jewels. Therefore God wanted to have Mary, who was so tightly united with the whole Holy Trinity, free from the original flaw. He wanted Immaculata. And she is so! O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
The ninth day — December 7th
Contemplation : To You, O Immaculata the Queen of hearts, we want to belong entirely to you and we want to bring to your feet our stray brothers who don’t know you yet. Our loving responsibility is to work at carrying it out. Today we go to you in order to let you know about this holy intention and resolution. You, O Immaculate Mary, bless us and help us graciously! O, allow me to praise You, O, Most Holy Virgin…
