General Santos City — The Vice Mayor and First Councilor of General Santos City received our Pilgrim Virgin on November 4, 2016 together with 200 Government officials and workers at the City Hall. Thanks to the efforts of a Legion of Mary member, and a former parishioner.
The First Councilor was in tears upon arrival of Our Lady’s statue. A catechist prepared them with a 15 minute talk on Our Lady. Then, the prayer of consecration of General Santos City (GenSan) to Our Lady was recited. After this, the Vice Mayor (since the Mayor is Protestant) and the First Councilor accompanied the pilgrims across the Park to the largest church of the city, Our Lady of Peace and Good voyage. Fr. Mani met the pilgrims at the door, and the bearers brought the Pilgrim Virgin into the Church. The Salve Regina was sung, a short sermon was given, and then the pilgrims processed out with a hymn.
This was an extraordinary grace because there was no paper work. All was organized in less than a day, with phone calls and both women, the Vice Mayor and the First councilor, are devotees of Our Lady. By the office footwork of our former Parishioner, a daughter of one of the original organizers of the Traditional Mass in GenSan, the whole thing was pulled off. After the enrollment of the officials and office workers, the Vice Mayor wanted a set time for a return visit to establish the Militia Immaculatae. That will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
It was a good day and General Santos City was consecrated to the Immaculata! Deo gratias!
The bottom line is that the last 300 scapulars were already distributed. The pilgrims really need 2000 scapulars to continue their apostolate.
N.B. The Scapulars has been sent, but donations are welcome for the rest of the pilgrimage!
